Health Education / Health Promotion
Health Education provides expert consultation and technical help on:
- health education,
- behavior change and
- community development.
The health education team provides childbirth education in the following areas:
- nutrition exercises,
- labor and delivery,
- hospital tour, and
- car seat safety.
Community presentations for STD/HIV and other health related topics are available. The team is available to work with professional, consumer and community groups. Health education also provides technical help to schools in accordance with the comprehensive health education law and requirements.
The overall goal of Health Promotion is to promote positive health behaviors and reduce the risk linked to heart disease, cancer, stroke and diabetes.
Services include:
- risk factor presentations,
- train-the-trainer programs,
- consultations for developing wellness programs,
- classes in exercise, nutrition, and tobacco use, and
- policy development.
A variety of information and educational resources are available. We also offer Flu shots on site for industries, churches, worksites, etc.
Eligibility: Services are available to worksites, schools, churches, health care providers, community organizations and individuals.
Fees: There is no charge for services. Flu shots are done on a contractual basis and can be paid for individually or as a group.
