Vendor Unit

The WIC Program has over 900 participating grocery stores and pharmacies. Although grocery stores and pharmacies are not providing "health care services", they are an important entity in delivering the prescribed food package to WIC participants.

Grocery stores (vendors) are monitored for program compliance. If food check redemptions transpire according to procedures, participants are best able to realize the full intended benefit of the program and program funds are less likely to be lost through fraud and abuse.
