Terminology

Watershed A drainage basin.  An area of land that drains into a particular lake, river, stream, or wetland.
Watershed Water Water Quality Assessment (WWQA) Basin document that details significant trends in water quality including: 
  • Water chemistry information
  • Biological monitoring information
  • Physical characteristics
  • Natural resources
  • Growth potential
  • Nonpoint source (NPS) pollution control efforts
  • Water quality improvement activities
  • Point source dischargers
Hydrologic Unit Code (HUC) A unique code identifying each hydrologic unit.

B Water Quality Information: Links to detailed information and maps for individual hydrologic units.  Table includes a watershed unit index map that will assist the user in locating a specific hydrologic unit in each basin. There is also a link to the complete basin publication (i.e. Watershed Water Quality Assessment).
C Basin Facts and Figures: Links to table comprised of total basin area, geographic regions, total stream miles, and percent land use/cover.
D Questions/Comments?: Links to information on commonly used terminology and an explanation of the watershed management page layout.
