Marsh Islands Advisory Committee
OCRM has assembled a citizen stakeholder group to assist in the development of new SCDHEC-OCRM regulations for access to marsh islands. A recent state Supreme Court ruling nullified existing regulations.
Marsh islands are relatively small islands that generally lie behind the barrier islands and around sea islands. There are nearly 3500 delineated marsh islands along South Carolina's coast.
The new proposed regulations stemming from the stakeholder meeting process have been presented to the SCDHEC board for review before being submitted to the General Assembly for consideration.
