Meeting to be held on shellfish regulation change
COLUMBIA – A staff information forum will be held Nov. 28 at James Island to discuss proposed changes to the state’s shellfish regulations, the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control reported today.
“This forum is designed to receive comments from the public about changes being considered for this regulation,” said Mike Pearson, manager of DHEC’s shellfish sanitation program. “The regulation outlines requirements for producers, harvesters, processors, and transporters of shellfish to protect consumers’ health.”
Pearson said the Nov. 28 meeting will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. in the auditorium of the Marine Resources Research Institute, 217 Ft. Johnson Road at James Island.
Pearson said the regulation and proposed changes are available at http://www.scstatehouse.net/regs/3160.doc.
