Coastal Zone Management Appellate Panel Meeting

The panel will receive an update on agency activities and consider several appeals.

Roger Crane v. DHEC is an appeal of a state Administrative Law Court decision to overturn DHEC’s denial of a second private recreational dock extending from Mr. Crane’s property into the May River in Beaufort County.

Adam Bernholz v. DHEC and the S.C. Coastal Conservation League is an appeal of DHEC’s denial of a permit for a dock structure on Goat Island in Charleston County. The Coastal Conservation League intervened in the case in support of DHEC’s permit denial. The state’s Administrative Law Court previously upheld the staff decision.

Georgetown County League of Women Voters and SC Coastal Conservation League v. DHEC and Smith Land Company is an appeal of DHEC’s decision to issue a permit to Smith Land Company to construct a private marina on the Sampit River in Georgetown County. The state’s Administrative Law Court previously upheld the staff decision.

After completing its agenda, the panel will set aside a 30-minute public comment period for citizens to express their needs and concerns.
