DHEC’s Darlington and Hartsville flu clinics giving shots by appointment only

SUMTER – Flu vaccine appointments are being scheduled at the Darlington County and Hartsville Public Health Departments, the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control announced today.

“In an effort to better serve our citizens we will be administering influenza vaccine in our county public health departments by appointment only,” said Ashley Tallon, immunization program manager for DHEC Region 4, which includes Darlington County. “We have plenty of flu vaccine this year, and encourage everyone to call for an appointment.”

The cost is $25. Please wear a short-sleeved shirt when you come to your appointment and, if you have one, bring your Medicaid or Medicare Part B card with you.

While the vaccination is available to anyone who wants to reduce his/her chances of getting the flu, there are some groups of people for whom it is highly recommended:

To schedule an appointment at the Darlington County Public Health Department call (843) 398-4400. The Darlington office is located at 305 Russell Street. Flu shot appointments for the Hartsville Public Health Department can be made by calling (843) 332-7303. The Hartsville site is located at 130 Camden Avenue.
