Swimming advisory issued for sections of Hilton Head Island beach

BEAUFORT – A swimming advisory has been issued for a section of Hilton Head Island beach, the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control announced today.

“The affected area includes 200 feet north and south of the beach access at the end of Starfish Drive off Folly Field Road; 200 feet north and south of the beach access at the end of Atlantic Pointe off North Sea Pines Drive; and 200 feet north and south of the beach access at Tower Beach off South Sea Pines Drive,” said David Payne of DHEC’s Region 8 Environmental Quality Control office.

High bacteria levels have been detected in these sections of the beach. Swimming is not advised until bacteria levels return to normal.
